Factions is the latest stand alone chapter in a *currently* 2 part series of games.
Either will work independantly of the other, but they shine when combined. If you have the money, I would buy both. Create a prophecies account, add the factions key to your login screen, and enjoy the best of both worlds. |

If I just buy the first will there be less people to interact with?

If you're only getting one you should get Prophecies if you want an RPG or Factions if you want a more PvP oriented game. Personally, I think the storyline in Factions is mildly put bad, especially when compared to Prophecies, which has a story it actually takes longer then a day to play through. In Factions you don't need to do any PvP, but to me it seems they intended it much more as a competitive game then a storydriven game.
But then again, both are great supplements to eachother, so if you like one chances are you want the other -edit due to new post- There are lots who play Prophecies despite having Factions, I just restarted Prophecies today, and both pre- and post-searing are teeming with people. (note: pre-searing is an area you can't get to later in the game, it's reserved for new players) Last edited by Tyggen; Jul 29, 2006 at 10:06 PM // 22:06.. |

Well, I would say there are less people in Chapter 1 than there were before Chapter 2 came out, but there are still plenty in Chapter 1 to interact with. For a new player, to learn the game, you should really, really play Chapter 1 first. Chapter 2 has a much faster pace of levelling up, and less opportunity to hone your skills before you are up against high level enemies. Many experienced players like to begin new characters in Chapter 2, but they already know the ins and outs of the game, and want to level up as soon as possible. For beginners, start with Chapter 1.
